"Did You Know"
By: Tom Smith, Wooddale Church of Christ

It has been said, "If you repeat a statement often enough many will believe it."
This is certainly true when it comes to religion.

Here are a few examples of statements or beliefs mentioned often that are not found anywhere in the Bible.

DID YOU KNOW...
  1. that the bible nowhere says, "Accept Jesus as your personal Savior?"
  2. that not one denomination is to be found in the New Testament?
  3. that "the rapture" is not once mentioned in the Bible?
  4. that no one was ever told to "Ask Jesus into your heart" in answer to the question, "What must I do to be saved?"
  5. that every verse in the New Testament where baptism and salvation appear together always lists baptism before salvation? (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:4)
  6. that even a child of God can sin and be eternally lost? (Luke 15:11-24; Acts 8:13-23; Galatians 5:4; II Peter 2:20-22; Revelation 3:16)
  7. that instrumental music cannot be found in New Testament worship? that vocal music is commanded? (Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16)
  8. that the term "faith only" is mentioned just once in scripture and that in a condemnatory fashion? (James 2:24)
  9. that salvation is a free gift of God, but must be received on His terms? (Ephesians 2:8-9; Hebrews 5:8-9; Romans 6:16-18)
