“Give God the Glory”
Acts 12:20-24
**Luke was the author of the book of Acts**
God won’t stand by and let us receive the honor that belongs to Him.
Temporary triumph of wickedness will not prevail:
- When you intentionally go out of your way to hurt a child of God, you’re asking for trouble.
- King Herod was on a rampage.
- King Herod tried to stop the spread of the Word of God, but he was stopped and the (church) word of God spread.
Foolish people value men by their outward appearance:
- No matter what someone has don’t judge by the outward.
God resists the proud:
- Man’s duty is to give God glory.
Why give God the glory?
- God made me
- God redeemed me from my sins
- God keeps on blessing me
What does it mean to give glory to God?
- Regard with reverence His laws
- Worship Him as maker of the universe
Refusing to give glory to God is the dumbest mistake to make.
Giving glory to God is the greatest accomplishment in life.
Bring glory to God by:
Worshiping Him
- Psalm 86:9
- John 4:24; 17:17
What we must do in Worship
- Must meet first day of the week
- Preaching God’s word
- Pray
- Give offering to God
- Sing praises to God
- Lord’s supper
Worship is a lifestyle of enjoying God.
Worship should be all during the week; not turned on and off on Sunday.
Give God glory by becoming Christ-like (Spiritual Maturity)
- II Corinthians 3:18
- Philippians 1:11 (fruits of righteousness)
- John 15:8
- Galatians 5:22-23
Give God the glory by:
- Serving others with our gift (I Peter 4:10-11)
- Use our gifts so others can be edified/helped.
